Full virtual machine
Your own operating system, with root. Install what you like, run Docker, change any setting.
Every rental is a full virtual machine with root access. It reaches you clean and it is deleted when you release it. Here is what that means in practice.
You don’t share a container with other renters. Each rental is its own virtual machine with one or more GPUs, depending on the model.

You add public keys to your Weir account and they are installed on the machine when it starts. You log in as root with your key.
Every machine gets new SSH host keys, so the fingerprint you see is never one used for an earlier rental.
Each machine starts from a clean system image, set up the same way every time.
No user accounts, logs or shell history from a previous renter.
Desktop services are turned off, so the machine runs headless.
UTC time and an English locale, so logs and tools behave the same on every machine.
Releasing a machine deletes it, together with its data disk, unless you chose to keep its disks. Copy out anything you want to keep first.
Release asks you to confirm the machine ID, so you can’t remove the wrong one by accident. Restarting a machine keeps the data disk.
If you find a security issue in Weir, email [email protected] with the steps to reproduce it. We’ll reply by email.
Please give us reasonable time to fix the issue before sharing details publicly, and don’t access other people’s data or disrupt the service while testing. We don’t offer payment for reports.
No. Each rental is a full virtual machine of its own, not a shared container.
The machine and its data disk are deleted, unless you chose to keep the disks when you ordered. Kept disks are billed by the hour and can be started again later. Copy out anything you need before you release.
Yes. The data disk at /data is kept across restarts of the same machine. It is deleted when the machine is released, unless you chose to keep the disks.
